We were lucky enough to enjoy a sneak peek of Reuthe’s in advance of the official opening this Bank Holiday weekend and what a place!
Oliver and his wife Claire first bought the site 18 months ago and have been beavering away to bring the site back to its former glory ever since. There is certainly a way to go but you can see what it will be and soon if the enthusiasm of the new owners is anything to go by. They’ve already created a cafe space with covered patio and roof terrace and cunningly brought on board Ashley and her team from Birch’s Cafe in Seal to work their magic.
There will soon be a children’s play area, woodland dens and routes around the 11 acre site for hikers, cyclists and dog walking and the route is just so impressive! You walk past HUGE specimen rhododendrons, camelias and azaleas some of which are more than 100 years old.
And next, they have ambitions for pop up restaurant evenings, yoga retreats, meditation zones, private parties, foraging courses and cookery classes.
This place is really special, a unique site with something you won’t find elsewhere. Congratulations to Oliver and Claire on re-opening a local gem for us all to enjoy.
Reuthe’s opens to the public this weekend 5th May, with the plant nursery open from Saturday at 8.30am and full cafe from Monday at 10am. Go and check it out!
