The Montessori method of education has been in practice for over 100 years in many parts of the world, and is based on self-directed activity, hands-on learning and collaborative play.
“I benefited from the Montessori education, which in some ways gives the students a lot more freedom to do things at their own pace, to discover…” Sergey Brin, Co-Founder of Google.

Whilst indoors, our activities are structured around each child’s interests and needs. Children have access to a range of specialist educational materials that are stimulating and foster independence, all under the watchful eyes of our trained Montessori staff. In addition, we employ peripatetic teachers for French, Music, PE, Judo and Swimming lessons, and regularly host visits from local professionals, for example, classical musicians, first aid trainers and veterinarians to provide ‘hands-on’ learning opportunities. The children also enjoy playing with Bob, the school’s pet Bearded Dragon!
St Helens Montessori is located in a well-adapted coach house, and for those who wish, the Nursery feeds into the Elementary, which takes children up to the age of 11 in mixed-age classrooms, and benefits from small class sizes, offering the children outstanding teaching, learning and outcomes.
