Discovering more at SPN Studios…

I was lucky enough to be invited to try out SPN Fitness Studios with an unlimited class pass for a month. What I discovered was that there was so much more to SPN than just spin!

The Set-up:
There are two main studios which host a range of different class from TRX to Yoga to Barre Tone (a mixture of core and high intensity workout), to Arms, Ass & Abs and much more. The spin studio is located in the basement.

I’d only tried spin a few times before and always found it very challenging. The difference at SPN is that there’s always a brilliant soundtrack (usually house music or some banging 90’s classics), an incredibly motivating instructor and cool lighting to make you feel like you’re in a club. I never dreamed I’d get hooked and now attend at least once a week to get my fix. I also love the TRX classes as they are super challenging and the Arms, Ass & Abs class as I enjoy using heavy weights in my work-outs. You can also book private 1:1 sessions with trainers.

Little Touches:
After every class you receive a chilled eucalyptus towel to help you cool down and refresh. There’s a lovely coffee and smoothie bar that also sells healthy nutritious snacks. You can pre-order your drink so that it’s waiting for you once you’ve finished your class. All the staff are welcoming and friendly.

Extras:
SPN also have an in-house nutritionist and massage therapist. I met with both to experience what they had to offer and I was really impressed…

Nutritionist – I had an hour consultation with Abir the nutritionist – I had to complete a detailed form before the appointment and then we discussed if there was anything I wanted to focus on. Although I felt I was doing everything pretty well Abir was still able to offer me new ideas and suggestions. She followed up with a nutrition programme, recipes and supplements suggestion.

Massage – I met with Jo for a sports massage. Jo is very knowledgable and was able to give me advice on how to look after some of my aches and pains at home. It was an excellent massage and I came away feeling more supple and relaxed. A 60 minute sports massage at SPN will cost you £65.

Cost:
Classes are £18 per class but currently they have a summer offer on where all classes are £12. There are several ‘community classes’ scheduled throughout the week (mainly eve) where they are reduced to £9. There is an SPN app which you can download that makes booking classes very simple.

So if you haven’t popped by yet… what are you waiting for?
