How to design your dream kitchen… by Rencraft

Are you planning your dream kitchen? Local designer Sarah Cooper of Rencraft has these top tips…

Layout – people often get carried away with colour schemes but the most important part of your kitchen design should always be the layout. The aesthetics can come later, it’s the functionality and flow that will make the space a joy to use.

Lifestyle – we spend so much time in our kitchens, so it’s important to consider how you use yours. Do you like to entertain? In which case you may want to include multiple ovens or wine storage. Or perhaps you work from home and can’t imagine life without the luxury of a built-in coffee machine.

Storage – this is key to any kitchen and the beauty of going with a bespoke kitchen company like Rencraft is that we can offer all sorts of useful storage solutions such as handmade solid wood cutlery inserts, exposed plate racks or larder cupboards kitted out to your personal requirements.

Budget – of course it’s important to have a budget (and to stick to it!) but we always ask people to start with their ultimate dream wish list as quite often they are pleasantly surprised by what they can afford. If savings do need to be made then we will work with you, suggesting changes that can help to save money without the need for too much compromise.

Finishing touches – this is one of my favourite parts of the process and it’s always the part the clients enjoy the most. We have literally loads of handles, paint colours and worktop samples to show you, guiding you through to ensure the end result is a beautiful kitchen you absolutely love.

Rencraft are an award-winning local kitchen designer and manufacturers with showrooms in Tunbridge Wells and Sevenoaks. Their bespoke kitchen designs are all handmade by experienced craftsmen in their Chart Farm workshop, where they have been based since 1980.
