Essentials to keep in the boot this summer holiday.

Hopefully the summer holidays will include some impromptu day trips and to keep things simple why not have a box of activities and essentials in the boot so you are ready to go when the mood takes you.

The Sevenoaks Mums team give their essential list:

SuncreamChild’s Farm suncream gets our vote.  They say: ‘Our sun cream has an actual SPF of 66.8, allowing us to say it’s 50+. It’s also water resistant to keep young and sensitive skin fully protected, moisturised and hydrated in the sunshine. Suitable for babies and children from 6 months upwards. Dermatologist approved for sensitive and eczema-prone skin’.

Snacks – think long life snacks so you don’t open the boot to find a rotting apple (yes I’ve done this, yuck!).  How about cereal bars, dried fruit, breadsticks etc just to keep you going in emergencies or to top up the sandwiches or fish & chips.

Water – have a pack of small water bottles, preferably ones with sports caps to reduce spillages.

Wipes – you can never have enough wipes!  Antibacterial hand wash.

A change of clothes – the kids are bound to get wet/sandy/muddy/have an accident.  And swimmers and shoes to wear in the water.  M&S have some lovely girls swimwear.

Plastic bags for the rubbish and wet/dirty clothes.

Towels – those quick drying camping towels are great or small hoody kids towels. JoJo Maman Bebe has this cute dinosaur hooded towel.

Activities – Sticker books, colouring pens on a string, a bucket & spade, crabbing line & net, kite.  Supermarkets stock cheap and cheerful versions of all of these.

Suntent and picnic blanket

And because this is the UK after all, a waterproof!!

Have a wonderful summer!
